Obituary of Raymond Howard Wagner

Conesus- Raymond H. "Ray" Wagner age 90, passed away late Thursday evening May 22, 2025, at his home in Conesus. He was born in the Town of Sparta on June 12, 1934, a son of the late Herbert and Mabel (Gilbert) Wagner. He was also predeceased by a son Michael R. Wagner and siblings Alta Holmes, Arlene Bergland and Richard Wagner. Ray and Gail moved to Webster Crossing in the 50's where they raised their family and actively supported the church. He is a current member of the Sparta Church with his dear wife Gail. He was a former member of the Springwater Fire Department, and Ambulance. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, hunting and spending time with his family. His family went camping & fishing. Ray and his family would camp with town families. He and his family joined a camping club called the Mt.Dewers where camping occurred weekends with the club. Ray cut his firewood for his home. He had an avid love for milling his own trees where he made numerous furniture pieces. Ray had numerous skills that enabled him to help others in the community with home projects. He had a love for all animals. He would come home from an appointment with cats or dogs for the family. For many years he bought and sold antiques at two different locations. He also loved yard sales and auctions. He was very proud of the fact that he completed college courses which were required by his employer. Ray worked as a machinist and was awarded the Gleasons Award for outstanding skill set. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Gail (Prame) Wagner; four daughters, Anne (Jim Swain) Wagner, Robin (Mike) Carrier, Vicky (Bill) Fields, and Lisa (Tom) VanScooter. His brother Ralph (Virginia) Wagner, grandchildren: Janet, Ray, Michelle, Chris, Anthony, Karen, Joy, Heather, Jessica F, Rachel, Jessica, Ashley & Jasmine, seventeen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other extended family members. Friends may call Thursday from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Sparta Center Church on Sparta Center Rd., where a memorial service will be held at the completion of calling hours. Interment will be in Erwin Cemetery in Webster's Crossing New York. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, NY. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Livingston County Hospice, Murray Hill Drive, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
