Obituary of Harry A. Cartwright

Dansville- Harry A. Cartwright age 81, passed away Wednesday afternoon September 2, 2015, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, where he had been a resident for the past few months. He was born in the Town of Sparta on April 18, 1934, the son of the late Harry and Nancy (Button) Cartwright. He was predeceased by a sister Eleanora Van Durme. Harry was the longtime companion of Marion Leven who survives. Harry was a Korea Era US Army veteran. He was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Dansville retiring in 1992. He was a member, Past Commander and member of the firing squad at the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion, a member of the Frank J. Casbolt # 6780 of the VFW and the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 all of Dansville. He was a member and Past Chief of the Dansville Volunteer Fire Department from the Protective's Company. He was also a member of the WNYVFA, NYSVFA and the LCVFA, and a member of the Dansville Ambulance Company. In his free time he enjoyed bowling and golfing at Brae Burn in Dansville. He is survived by his dear companion and caregiver, Marion Leven, and their family, Bonnie (Tim) Schuster, grandchildren, MacKenzie, Mollie, and Masin Schuster, three sisters, Dorothy Goodell, Jean Sutfin, Cecelia Dowell, a brother in-law Larry Van Durme, and many nieces and nephews.. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. A graveside Fireman's Service followed by full military honors will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in Greenmount Cemetery in Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
