Obituary of JoAnn Crupi

JoAnn "Jo Jo" Crupi age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Friday October 30, 2015, in New York City, while traveling to watch her dear friend, Elissa compete in the NY Marathon. She was born in Elmira, NY on April 3, 1956, a daughter of the late Joseph and Patricia (Welch) Crupi. Jo Jo attended and graduated from Horseheads High School in 1974, earned a BS in Education from SUNY Geneseo in 1978 where she was a member of the Geneseo Chamber Singers and MS in Education from Elmira College in 1986. She began her teaching Career in The Dansville Central School District in 1980 and retired in 2011 with 31 years of service. Most of her teaching was in Music at the primary level where she was loved by her students and highly respected by her colleagues. She also volunteered her time to Dansville athletics by scoring and timing as well as working at other athletic events in a number of different capacities. Her interests included sewing, knitting, cruising, lunching with friends, most recently Card Making and her love for all things Disney. She will be remembered for her caring and compassionate personality, love for music and children and her fun loving laugh and humor. She is survived by her dear friend, Elissa Gielen of Dansville, a brother, Mark (Deborah) Crupi of St. Augustine, FL, nieces, nephews, Melani (Christopher) Muratore, Susanne (Kevin) McDaniel, Alex Crupi, Darcy (Pat) D'Enricco, Mimi Weiss and Michaela Weiss, Carrie Klein, many colleagues and friends. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Dansville Foursquare Church on West Ave., where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday.
