Obituary of Aileen L. Runge

Lockport-Aileen L. Runge age 89, passed away Wednesday morning November 18, 2015, at the Odd Fellows and Rebekah HCC in Lockport where she had been a resident for a short time. She was born in Greenwood, NY on February 10, 1926, a daughter of the late Roy S. and Grace I. (Sherman) Woodworth. On May 1, 1945, she was married to Harold K. Runge, who predeceased her on June 15, 2002. She was also predeceased by a son in-law Michael France and a sister Eileen Rauber. She was a graduate of Greenwood Central School. Aileen and her husband Harold met on Blind date arranged by brother-in-Law, Gerald Rauber, of Wayland, who met Harold while serving in the Navy in WWII. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Hornell NYSDOT unit, retiring after over 20 years of service. She was a very outgoing person. She enjoyed crafting, stamping up activities, collecting snowmen, and knitting, which she learned during WWII on two nails and string to knit socks for the war effort. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Jewel (Herbert G.) Rowe, Sr., of Aiken SC, Claudia (Stephen) Prutsman of Gasport, grandchildren, Lisa (Carl) Hindle, Herbert G. Rowe, Jr., Michael (Jennifer) France Jr., Laurie Gates, Jennifer (Daniel) Witkin, great-grandchildren, Eric Hindle, Christian (Leanne Smith) Hindle, Cyle Hindle, Collin and Hallie Gates, Logan and Mikayla France, Gabriel and Noah Witkin, great-great grandchildren, Logan Dixon and Madelyn Hindle, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. in Dansville, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours. Interment will be in Canaseraga Cemetery. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
