Obituary of John B. Harris

Groveland Station- John Blaine Harris age 87, passed away early Thursday afternoon August 23, 2018, at his home in Groveland Station surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born in Scottsburg, NY on May 27, 1931, a son of the late Ronald and Lena (Crotser) Harris. He was also predeceased by a daughter Darla Kay (Cesar) Ortiz, and his brother and friend Robert Harris.  On August 25, 1973, he was married to the former Beverly Forrester Harris who survives.

 

John was employed at Craig Developmental Center for thirty-seven years as a maintenance supervisor. He loved hunting, fishing, bird watching and gardening.  He was well liked by everyone who knew him, his gentle voice and friendly smile were always welcomed. He had a lifelong love of dogs and was devoted to his grand dog Shea.

 

Surviving in addition to his wife Beverly are five children, Diane Dillon of Livonia, Donna Harris of CT, James Harris of Geneseo, Jill Harris of Lakeville, and Jerry Harris of Dansville. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.

 

Services were held privately. Arrangements are by Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St. Dansville. Interment was in Union Cemetery in Scottsburg. Online memorials may be at HindleFuneralHome.com.
