Obituary of Daniel P. Maloney

Dansville- Daniel Peter Maloney age 73, passed away late Thursday evening October 20, 2022, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following an illness. He was born in Dansville on June 23, 1949, the son of the late Albert and Norma (Krog) Maloney. Dan started his career in law enforcement with the Dansville Police Department, then moving through the ranks at the Livingston County Sheriff's Department eventually retiring as the Under Sheriff to John York. He then went to work for Batavia Downs as Head of Security at the Racetrack and Casino. Dan was also proud of the achievement of being an Eagle Scout and an Altar Boy at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. He was a member of the Union Hose Company of the Dansville Fire Department and the Loyal Order of the Moose of Dansville. He is survived by his companion Linne Hopkins, a sister Maren (Nick) Young, nieces Leslie Magee, and Gwen Hayes, several great nieces and nephews; an Uncle Peter Krog, cousins Gay Krog and Peter (Robin) Krog. Linne Hopkins children, Kerry (Mike) Karbowski and their son Cole, Lindsey and Ian Hopkins. Friends may call Wednesday October 26, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Sparta Center United Methodist Church, where services will be held at the completion of calling hours.
