Obituary of Lena A Bovee

She was born in Mt. Morris on September 2, 1923, a daughter of the late Leonardo and Carmella Speziale Noto Mistretta. On June 26, 1948, she was married to Glenn Barney Bovee who survives. She was also predeceased by siblings, John Mistretta, Mike, Gerald, Mary, Rose, and Josephine Noto. Lena was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Marys Church in Dansville where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion Auxiliary. Lena was formerly employed at the Blum Shoe Factory, Dodds Pharmacy and Ideal Lumber all of Dansville. She enjoyed cooking, and baking so much that her husband Barney said, Nobody left the house without a loaf of banana bread or some cookies. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Barney, two sons, John (Penny) Bovee of Dansville and Mike (Mona) Bovee of Springwater, two sisters, Virginia VanWinkle of Dansville and Patricia (Gary) Walker of Seattle, WA. Two sisters in-law Lucy Mistretta, and Jean Bovee both of Dansville. Five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, several nieces and nephews. j Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 am in St. Marys Church in Dansville. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
