Springwater- John Robert White age 67, passed away early Wednesday morning October 16, 2024, following an extended illness. He was born in the Alaskan Territory on August 24, 1957, a son of Gardner (deceased) and Anita (Mastin) White Jr., On July 17, 1982, he was married to the former Geri Beth Ellinwood, who predeceased him on January 16, 2023. John lived most of his early childhood life traveling the country as a son of an airman experiencing states like Alaska, Illinois, Nevada, and Washington before moving to Caledonia, NY where he met his love Beth. They lived for the most part of their married life in the Wayland, NY area. John worked for a number of years at Sun World Insulation before starting his own business Scratch Masters where he worked with many of the local car dealerships in the Rochester area. His work was admired by all that knew him and he leaves behind many colleagues and friends in the auto industry some of which span 20 plus years. John did not meet an animal he did not like; he was always willing to extend a caring hand to a stray cat or injured wildlife. Most will remember him as an avid horse lover and volunteer in various equine organizations. He took great honor over the past ten years in providing exemplary care to his two beloved equines Smokey and Early. The horses along with his two corgis, Brody and Allie provided much joy and comfort to him. Throughout his life, John valued his family more than anything else and especially his two daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was known for his hugs and to his family and all that knew him he embodied what it meant to be kind and showed it through his unwavering support, love and pride. He is survived by his mother Anita White of Springwater, two daughters Heather Fox and her husband Jeffrey Fox of Cohocton, NY, his daughter Holly White-Baumhover and her husband Kevin Baumhover of Lexington, KY. He is also survived by his four wonderful grandchildren Coreena Carey (Daniel), Courtney Costello (Kevin), Jeffrey Fox Jr. and Chloe Fox in addition to his two great-grandchildren Lincoln Carey and Nolan Costello. He is also survived by three sisters Cynthia White, Jennifer White, Susan White and three brothers the late Chuck White, David White (Jerry) and Eugene White (Rachael). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 21 st at 1pm at the South Dansville United Methodist Church, 9667 Country Route 46 Arkport, NY 14807. A reception for friends and family to gather will follow the service. Interment with Geri Beth will be in Ashley Cemetery in Springwater. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Grayson Jockey Club Research Foundation an organization for horse health medical research and/or the Wilmot Cancer Center as thanks for the care both he and his wife Beth received during their courageous battles.
