Obituary of Sylvia Z. Smith

She was born in Bath, NY on January 23, 1941, a daughter of the late Ronald and Norma (Austin) Zimmer. On February 10, 1973, she was married to L. Douglas Smith who predeceased her on August 26, 1999. She was also predeceased by a sister in-law Carol Anne Brown. Sylvia and Doug owned and operated Smith's Market on Main St., in Dansville until their retirement in 1982 after 35 years of business. Sylvia's zest for life was truly amazing. Everyone she met became an instant lifelong friend. She relished being outdoors and had a true appreciation and respect for nature. Her home and her heart were always open to everyone. Sylvia's positive attitude toward life was undeniable. Those who knew Sylvia felt so blessed to have her in their lives with her gentle caring ways and unconditional love for all. Sylvia will be truly missed, but the imprint she has left on our hearts will last forever. Sylvia is survived by a son and daughter-in law Joseph (Tina) Smith, of Cleveland, GA, a son Eric L. Vecellio of Ocala, FL. A brother Carl Zimmer of Ocala, FL. Four grandchildren Janelle and David Smith and Bradly and Neal Vecellio. Two brothers in law, David W. Smith of Rochester and Tim D. Smith of Pennsylvania. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
