Obituary of Ralph A. Domescek

Dansville-Ralph A. Domescek, age 82, passed away late Tuesday morning August 18, 2009, at home following a prolonged illness. He was born in Buffalo, New York on May 11, 1927, a son of the late Ralph and Rosa (Zeugfellner) Domescek. In 1956, he was married to Mary Veronica (Granich) Domescek, who predeceased him on February 28, 1988. He was a graduate of Buffalo State Teachers College and held a M.S. from SUNY at Geneseo. Mr. Domescek taught at Dansville Senior High for 32 years before retiring in 1989. He taught Basic Math, Mechanical Drawing and was the longtime director of the Special Education schoolwork program. He served in multiple capacities including the Danua advisor for several years, past president of the Dansville Teachers' Association, and currently organized the Retired Men's Faculty Association. He was elected seven times as the Village of Dansville Justice, serving for 26 years before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the New York State Magistrate's Association. He was a long time communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary's Church and was instrumental in the formation of the Parish Council and St. Mary's School Board. He was an active Boy Scout Volunteer and long time member of the Dansville Lions Club, receiving the Career Lion Award in 1992. He served the Center for Dispute Settlements and was a recipient of the Distinguished Jurist Award in 1997. His summer jobs included past director of the Genesee Valley Rotary Camp and the Dansville Summer Recreational Program. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Honorary Society. He is survived by his son, Dr. Ronald (Anne) Domescek of Winter Park, FL, a brother Carl E. Domescek of Buffalo, two grandsons, Matthew James and Timothy Paul Domescek. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may called Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.
