Obituary of Dorothy K Henty

She was born in Sparta, on June 13, 1921, a daughter of the late Arthur and Clara Kreiley. She was the widow of Francis R. Henty who predeceased her on November 11, 1989. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Harold (Inez) Kreiley, Anna Kreiley, and Richard Kreiley.
She was employed as a secretary for Thomas Reilly, the founder of the former Rapid-Gro of Dansville. She worked side by side with her husband Francis, in both the construction and Real Estate business for 39 years. She was a past member of the Kings Daughter's and Son's Home of Dansville and a current member of the Dansville Women's Civic Club, the Livingston County Children's Protective Association, a member of the Friends of the Dansville Public Library and a Life member of the Dansville Area Historical Society. Dorothy was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Dansville and for over 20 years she enjoyed preparing the meals at the church for the Dansville Rotary Club and serving many other church dinners. She was also active in the "Meals on Wheels" program at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, where she was a volunteer.
Dorothy's proudest accomplishment was learning to fly and earning her pilot's license, subsequently flying across the United States with her husband in their private plane. She also enjoyed playing golf with family and friends and dancing. In later years she enjoyed boating on Seneca Lake with her family.
She is survived by her son, Dean A. (Josephine) Henty, twin daughters, Sandra (Nick) Bergquist, and Sharon Harris. Four grandchildren Robb (Jennifer Beck) Harris, Hillary (Jonathon) Bennett, Colin (Holly) Henty, Courtney (Allen) Scherer, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Roger (Barbara) Kreiley, a sister in-law Gladys (Farley) Stamp.
There will be no prior calling hours. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00am in the Dansville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Stevens and David Hotchkiss officiating. Private interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Ref. Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
