Obituary of Janet Shay Young

She was born in Hornell, on February 21, 1926, a daughter of the late John and Ila (Jackson) Erickson. She was also predeceased by a granddaughter Kada Burton and siblings, Ann Rogers Jones and Betty Quinlan. Janet was a therapy aide at the former Craig Colony in SONYEA for almost twenty years. She was currently a senior companion at Dogwood Day Treatment in Dansville. She attended the Dansville Free Methodist Church. She was a member of the Fawcett Post of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Casbolt Post of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed tending and loving her many pets, feeding the birds and cultivating beautiful flower gardens. She is survived by a daughter Sue (Larry) Burton of Dansville, and a son William (Sandy) Shay of Holley. Six grandchildren, William (Sara) Shay Jr., Bobbi Lynn Burton, Todd (Jayme) Hall, Leanne Shay, Robert Burton and Mark Dusablon., four great-grandchildren, Amber, Trevor, Emma Grace and Avalyn. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at the Dansville Free Methodist Church, 23 Franklin St., in Dansville. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville, NY. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
