Obituary of John M. Schleyer

He was born in West Sparta, on July 8, 1915, a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (McNair) Schleyer. On September 19, 1936, he was married to Ella (Jones) Schleyer, who predeceased him on August 2, 2006. He was also predeceased by a daughter in-law Jackie Schleyer, and a brother George Schleyer. John worked at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville as a molder in the foundry. He was a member of the Dansville Fish and Game Club, the twenty five year club at Foster Wheeler and a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130 of Dansville. John and Ella lived on the flats on Applinville Road for almost thirty years. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and hunting. He is survived by two sons, William Schleyer, Robert (Karen) Schleyer both of Dansville, two daughters, Patricia (David) Sahrle of Conesus and Geraldine Schleyer. Six grandchildren, twelve- great-grandchildren. A sister Margaret Howarth of Williamsville. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
