Dansville- Joyce Marie Rex age 74, passed away early Saturday morning, January 15, 2011, at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris, following a long illness.
She was born in Portville, NY on September 28, 1936, a daughter of the late William and Virginia (Emerson) Tompkins. On September 3, 1955, she was married to Stanley B. Rex Jr., who predeceased her on January 11, 2005. She was also predeceased by a sister, Shirley Tompkins.
Joyce and her late husband Stan owned and operated Rex Collision Service on Sahrle Hill Rd. in Dansville for many years. She was a member on the Dansville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Vicky) Rex and Thomas (Theresa) Rex, both of Dansville, two daughters, Barbara Rex-McKinney of Cohocton, and Beverly Rex-Burley of Dansville, three sisters; Marjorie (Joseph) Bentley of Fillmore, Gloria (Marvin) Waxel of Allegany, Marguerite (Fred) Miller of Eldred, PA, eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am in the Dansville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
