Obituary of Leona E. Harter

Dansville-Leona E. Harter age 82, formerly of Cottage St., In Dansville, passed away Saturday morning March 10, 2012, at the home of her niece Beverly Camps in Canisteo, where she had resided for the past few years. She was born in Nunda on August 14, 1929, a daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Kemp) Ess. On April 24, 1948, she was married to Robert M. Harter who predeceased her on November 28, 1993. She was also predeceased by her brother Fred Ess and a brother in-law DeMyrle Harter. Leona was a secretary in the accounting department at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville for twenty-one years retiring in 1992. She had also worked for the Sanford Card Company and the Genesee Country Express newspaper. She was active with the Steuben and Livingston County 4H Club and loved to roller skate. She is survived by her sister Eloise Harter and her children John (Kathy) Harter of Brockport, Rosemary (Richard) Nisbet of Wayland, Beverley (Frank) Camps of Canisteo, and Fred's children, Carl, Donald and Alan Ess. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., in Dansville, where services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am.
