Obituary of Ruth Black

Dansville- Ruth A. Black age 89, formerly of Mark’s Trailer Park passed away Friday afternoon February 14, 2014, at Noyes memorial Hospital in Dansville. She was born in Dansville on August 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Dana S. and Josephine Steffey Jackman. On August 17, 1946, she was married to Paul E. Black, who predeceased her on July 19, 2003. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Myra Smith, Glines, Burl and Clarence Jackman. Ruth was a very active longtime member of the Dansville United Methodist Church. She had worked at the former Blum Shoe Factory in Dansville. Ruth was also a baker for many years in the cafeteria at Dansville Central School. Ruth was also a graduate of the Harper Method Beautician School in Rochester. In her free time enjoyed knitting and crocheting She is survived by a son, Ronald Black of Dansville; her daughter, Rosalie Nickerson of Mt. Morris; six grandchildren, Greg and Michael Geraci, Jennifer (Chad) LaPiana, Debbie (Ben) Taft, Timothy and Rebecca Black; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, Noah and Jack Geraci, Zoe and Ethan Taft, Domanic and Gianna LaPiana; nephews, Lawrence (Galen) Reiser, Richard (Susan) Jackman and Paul Deichler. There will be no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Union Cemetery, Scottsburg. Ref. Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
