Obituary of Michael Thompson

Dansville- Michael H. "Mike" Thompson age 66, passed away early Wednesday morning January 9, 2013, at Noyes memorial hospital in Dansville. He was born in Dansville on March 27, 1946, a son of the late Henry and Evelyn Patterson Thompson. On August 9, 1969, he was married to Katherine "Kathy" Young who survives. Mike worked at the former Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville for thirty-six years retiring in 2003. He also worked for Sweetener'sPlus in Wayland from 2003 to this past fall. He was a forty-four year member, Past President, Vice President, Lieutenant, Captain and current Chaplain of the James H. Jackson Hose Company of the Dansville Volunteer Fire Dept., a charter member of the Dansville Ambulance Corps, a member of the IAM # 1662, the Twenty Five Year Club at Foster Wheeler, the Power's Inn Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130, the Daniel Goho Post # 87 of the American Legion and the Frank J. Casbolt VFW Post # 6780. While serving as a member of the Jackson Hose Company he was active with the Oktoberfest Committee, the Balloon Rallye and the Short Hose Pumper Company. Surviving in addition to his wife Kathy, are a son Paul Thompson of Wayland, two daughters; Lisa Switzer of Dansville and Kelly Thompson also of Wayland, five grandchildren, Lita and Kelsey Switzer, Austin Plank, Kortni and Karis Parsons. A graveside Fireman's Service followed by Military Honors will be held on Saturday at 2:00pm in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville.
