Van Durme age 88, passed away at the Vincent House, Wayland, on Friday evening April 26th following a brief illness. He was born in Dansville on September 13, 1924, a son of the late Henry and Clara Martens Van Durme. On October 15,1959 He was married to Joanne Perley, who predeceased him on August 16, 2006. He was also predeceased by 2 Brothers, Raymond and John and 2 sisters Mary Hurlburt and Alice Sullivan Louis was employed for 38 years by NYSEG as a lineman. After retirement he was employed at Stony Brook State Park for 14 years in the maintenance department. He was a communicant of the Holy Family Parish in Dansville, a member of the local #1126 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a member of the Daniel Goho American Legion Post # 87 of Dansville. Louis loved the outdoors and spent much of his leisure time, yard work, hunting, fishing or just walking about nature Louis is survived by two sons, Peter (Margaret) and Eric ( Colleen), 4 grandchildren Alyssa,Elizabeth, Josh and Megan, 1 Great Grandson,Isaac, 4 brothers, Richard, Philip (Jean), Nicholas (Anne), Larry; 2 Sisters, Margaret (Earl) Karns and Loretta Daniels and many nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 29th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Dansville. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery with full Military honors.
