Obituary of Donald P. Mauro

Dansville Donald P. Mauro age 85, passed away early Sunday afternoon January 31, 2016, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born in Dansville on January 26, 1931, a son of the late Sandy and Viola Lawrence Mauro Sr., He was also predeceased by a sister Joyce Lamont. On May 6, 1950, he was married to Dorothy West Mauro who survives. Don was a US Air Force veteran serving from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was employed at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville as an electrician. In his free time he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of the IAM Local #1665, the Twenty Five Year Club at Foster Wheeler, the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1130, the Arkport America Legion, and the South Dansville Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving in addition to his dear wife of over 65 years Dorothy, are six children, Dee Dee Briggs of Dansville, Diane (Keith) Haywood of Endicott, Debbie (Eric) Holbrook of Dansville, Dennis (Tracy) Mauro of Ossian, Denise (Mike) Cloonan, of Dansville and David (Cherri) Mauro of Dansville, two brother's Richard (Helen) Mauro and Sandy Mauro Jr. both of FL, eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
