Obituary of Doris M. Haywood

Dansville- Doris M. Haywood age 88, passed away early Wednesday morning January 18, 2017, at the Livingston County CFNR in Mt. Morris, where she had resided for the past several years. She was born in the Town of Sparta, on September 28, 1928, a daughter of the late Irving Julian and Harriet Agnes Root Moose. On September 10, 1951, she was married to Earl W. Haywood, who predeceased her on October 31, 1985. She was also predeceased by a daughter JoAnn Thompson, a daughter in-law, Lydia Haywood, a granddaughter, Karen Everman, siblings, Helena Sahrle, Marietta Ashley, Harold and Charles Moose. Doris was a longtime member of the Dansville United Methodist Church, a former Cinderella Softball Coach and Girl Scout Leader. She was a beautician at the Elite Beauty Shop for over thirty years. Doris was the dispatcher for the LATS transportation system until her retirement. She was an Election Inspector for the Town of North Dansville for thirty two years. In her free time she enjoyed, being a caregiver to many residents in town, collecting pigs, and the Saturday morning coffee gathering with family for many years. She is survived by her children, Christine (Daniel) Wensel, Patti Jo (Steve) Wensel, Kelly (Kevin) Fitzpatrick, Betsy (Brian) Hall, Sharon (Henry) Everman, Gerald Haywood, Keith (Diane) Haywood, Randy (Scott Hebert) Haywood, a son in-law, Bill (Nancy) Thompson, a sister in-law Marjory Moose, twenty three grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren, many great-great- grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Dansville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
