Obituary of Joyce M. Williams

Dansville- Joyce M. Williams age 86, passed away early Monday morning July 24, 2017, at the Livingston County CFNR in Mt. Morris, where she was receiving Hospice care.

She was born in Rochester on January 22, 1931, a daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Bouffard) McCarthy. Her mother predeceased her and she was raised by Ralph and Jean McCarthy. She was also predeceased by her husband Clayton, a son Paul, a sister Jessie, half-brothers, David Louis and William Callie.

Joyce was a fifty-five year member of the Dansville United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Dansville Ambulance Company since 1986. She was the first woman volunteer to obtain 2500 calls answered. She was awarded by the ambulance company outstanding service awards in 1993 and 2000, she was member of the year in 2008. In 2005 she was awarded by the Dansville Lions Club the Robert J. Uplinger Award for her devotion to community service. She also worked with the American Red Cross on Blood Drives. She was a Foster Grandparent at the Dansville Primary School for many years. A child of God, she was a wife, mother, healer, teacher and friend to many, May she rest in peace. Amen.

She is survived her daughter, Gail (Robert) Derrenbacher of Wayland, a son, Stephen (Karen) Williams of Dansville. Five grandchildren Amy (Mark) Schuyler, Matthew (Tammy) Williams, Jeffrey (Soraya) Williams, Stephen (Randi) Williams and Zachery (Andrea) Derrenbacher, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the Dansville United Methodist Church.
