Obituary of Marion A. Harrington

Dansville - Marion A. Harrington age 83, passed away at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Monday afternoon, October 2, 2017, following an extended illness. 

She was born in Dansville, NY on February 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Charles and Hope (Tharp) Derrenbacher. She was also predeceased by her husbands, James Jansch, and Richard Harrington, and her son, David Harrington. 

Marion was a graduate of Dansville High School class of 1952.  After raising her children to school age, she returned to school and earned her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse at St. James Mercy Care in Hornell NY for many years. After retiring from St. James, she began doing private duty nursing. She always enjoyed the private care and getting to know her patients. She was an accomplished painter and her hobbies included gardening, reading, hiking and caring for her dogs and cats.

She is survived by her children, Lee Ann (Richard) Rider of Dansville, Robert (Brenda) Jansch of Largo FL., Richard (Jenny) Jansch of Glendale AZ., Jeanne Jansch of Dansville, Elaine (Joe) Van Durme of Rochester, Patrick (Audrey) Harrington of NH, Timothy (Tiffany) Harrington of Dansville, and Matthew Harrington of Dansville, her brothers Owen Derrenbacher and Charles “Bud”  Derrenbacher both of Dansville, her sister Hope (Dale) Johnson of Dansville, 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday October 7th 4:00pm at Marion's daughter Lee Ann's house 8286 Logan Road, Dansville, NY. 14437.  Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. 271 Main St., Dansville.  Online remembrances may be left HindleFuneralHome.com.
