Obituary of Sybil Muriel Joy

Dansville-Sybil Muriel Joy, age 92, passed away Tuesday morning October 13, 2020, at the Elderwood Care Facility in Hornell, following a brief illness. Sybil was born in Conesus, on November 20, 1927; the daughter of the late James and Viola (Wamser) Parsons. She was also predeceased by her husband Adrian “Abe” Joy in 2003, a son Michael Joy in 1980, and six of her siblings Sybil grew up in Conesus where she attended her first 8 years in a one room rural schoolhouse. She went on to graduate from Livonia Central School. She held many different jobs during her lifetime including, a belt maker for Hitchcock Manufacturing in Rochester, a Clerk and then a Manager for W.T. Grant Company in Dansville, she worked the Kings Daughters and Sons Home in Dansville. She also did a lot of Volunteering mowing the Conesus Cemetery, being a 4H leader, the treasurer of the Ossian Presbyterian Church, a member of the Home Bureau Co-op Extension. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, camping, and spending time with her family. Surviving Sybil, are her children, Adrian (Kathy) Joy, Kathy (Fred) Goodell, grandchildren, Jason and Eric Goodell( Angela Wright), Connie (Salvador Santaniello) Joy, Lacey (Zach) Welsh, Katlyn Joy, Mark Joy, Michael (Morgan) Joy, two sisters, Marcia and Lynette Parsons, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
