There are no words to add to the already expressed sympathies and condolences. May your personal memories of your husband, father, grandfather sustain you today and in the days ahead. Jon was truly one of God's servants who gave freely and willingly to his family, community, organizations, and youth. He followed the "love your neighbor as yourself" philosophy and considered his neighbor to be anyone who needed his guidance and help. Jon was a blessing of his own making. May you find personal joy and laughter in your memories.

Among the many honors bestowed upon Jon and his family was the Livingston Chamber of Commerce 2003 Distinguished Business award. Several family members attended the award banquet and in a true show of compassion for others Jon had his dad Tim accept the award. Tim was a founder of the County Chamber and gave a wonderful history of how the Chamber started as well as how Main Tire Exchange began. It was a great highlight of my decade long tenure as President of the Chamber. Thank you Jon for a life well lived. The good Lord has welcomed you to heaven.

Jon was one of the finest, most selfless people I has the pleasure of knowing. He was always positive, involved, and his benevolence and generosity were limitless. It was always enjoyable to run into Jon, as I always left feeling better about the world and the people he touched. Dansville will certainly miss one of it's finest sons. RIP, Jon

It is hard to imagine not seeing Jon around town. He meant so much to so many and will certainly be missed. In 2000, we at Babcock Enterprises had a major fire in our shop mid-morning sometime, by noon, Jon was there offering himself, his shop and anything else we needed till we got back up and running. That's just who he was. I was glad to know him. My condolences to you all.

Dear Linda and Family
Please accept my condolences for the loss Jon, a great man. He had an impact on my life and the lives of many in our community. I loved coming back to the "Center of the Universe" because of family and friends. There is no one I enjoyed seeing more than Jon Shay. He was generous with his time and treasure and treated everyone with respect and compassion.
My father passed away suddenly in 1975. My two younger brothers, Tommy (11) and Bobby (9) were having a difficult time dealing with the loss of their Dad. Jon approached me and said "I want you to take the two boys to see the Buffalo Braves Basketball Team on me. Here are our reserved seats. I also want you to take them to dinner in the Arena Restaurant overlooking the court. That should put a smile on their faces." It was a memorable experience for all of us and lifted my little brother's spirits when they needed it.
As a young man, I learned a lesson that day. The impact an act of kindness can have on someone who is going through difficult times. That is the kind of man Jon Shay was. He cared about others above himself. I will miss him and I know all of Dansville will miss him too.
With love and respect,
Mike Welch

To Linda and family,
I want to send my condolences on learning of Jon’s passing. Growing up in Dansville, I appreciated his smile, his work ethic, his commitment to the community and the respect he showed to the older generation like my Mom and Dad. He and John Leyden were my American Legion baseball coaches...he loved everything about sports! Dansville was blessed to have him...one of the Rochester TV stations had a nice picture of him and that great smile with the caption: “Mr. Dansville”...I thought that was well deserved.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ronald Boyd

Mr. Shay was the first to help a girl from Long Island that he didn't know much about, other than she was his daughter Nicole's friend. When starting a dance team at Alfred University, we needed a donation for uniforms and guess who handed over the first check? It was a honor to say I knew you. May you rest in peace and may God comfort your loved ones.
