Obituary of Thomas Jay Knapp

Dansville- Thomas Jay Knapp age 50, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Wednesday June 16, 2021. He was born on April 23, 1971, at 12:01am at the Quonset Point Naval Hospital in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. a son of Thomas A. and Francine (Gregory) Knapp. On February 26. 1994, Tom was married to the love of his life, Tammy (Shraeder) Knapp. Tom was a United States Postal Mail carrier in Wayland, NY for over 25 years, but his passion was working on cars. Tom was an amazing mechanic! When he was 18, he started his own business of buying cars at the car auction, fixing them, and reselling them. Years later Tom and his dad completely overhauled his parent’s 1965 Plymouth. He always had a project going, he was a multitalented man. Tom has passed on his many talents for mechanics and auto body repair and more to his son, Jake. He was proud that jake was going to school to take up this trade and following in his father’s footsteps. Tom completely remodeled his home all by himself. He loved just relaxing at home with his family. He was a wonderful, loving father and husband. He will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him. In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 27 years Tammy, Tom is survived by his beloved son, Jacob Thomas Knapp, his parents Thomas “Cos” and Francine Knapp, his sister, Jennifer (Matt) Knapp Shaughnessy, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
